Research Use Only (RUO) Policy
This policy describes the scope of sale for every compound in the Synthesis Labs catalog, the representations buyers make when purchasing, and uses that are strictly prohibited.
1. Scope of sale
All compounds offered by Synthesis Labs are laboratory chemical reagents supplied for research use only. They are not drugs, biologics, dietary supplements, cosmetics, or medical devices, and are not manufactured, tested, packaged, or labeled for any purpose other than laboratory research.
2. Prohibited uses
Synthesis Labs compounds may not be:
- Introduced into a human or animal body in any manner, or used in connection with any human or veterinary professional practice;
- Compounded, formulated, or repackaged into any preparation intended for human or animal use;
- Used in food, cosmetics, or any consumer product;
- Resold or transferred to any buyer who does not represent a qualified research organization;
- Represented, marketed, or labeled by a buyer as suitable for any use other than laboratory research.
3. Buyer representations
By purchasing from Synthesis Labs, a buyer represents that they:
- Are purchasing on behalf of a laboratory, research organization, or educational institution;
- Will use any compound solely within a qualified nonhuman research setting, such as in vitro or cell culture research;
- Have the facilities, training, and authority to store, handle, and dispose of laboratory chemical reagents lawfully;
- Are at least 21 years of age;
- Have read and accepted the full Research Use Attestation and our Terms of Sale.
4. No human or veterinary application guidance
Synthesis Labs does not provide guidance on the use, dosing, handling for administration, or any application of its compounds beyond their identity and analytical documentation. Staff are instructed not to answer questions of this nature. See our Contact page.
5. Right to refuse or cancel
Synthesis Labs may refuse, delay, or cancel any order at its discretion, including where the intended research setting cannot be verified or where information provided by a buyer appears inconsistent with qualified research use.
6. Compliance basis
This policy is maintained with reference to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's intended-use framework (21 CFR 201.128) and general principles governing the sale of research use-only laboratory reagents. It is not a substitute for buyer-side legal or regulatory compliance review.
